Borough Of Lakehurst
The borough of Lakehurst is aptly named due to its location near the lake and the woods. The town itself is just over 1 square mile and is surrounded by Manchester Township. The population is around 2,900. There is a high military population due to the close proximity to Joint Base Mcguire-Lakehurst- Fort Dix.
Lakehurst is rich in history and that is reflected in the styles of homes throughout the town. Classic Victorians, Lakeside Cottages, Cape Cods, Ranches, Colonials, and even newly constructed condominiums make up an eclectic mix of homes within this community. Residents of Lakehurst enjoy the small-town experience that is offered here. The downtown area houses a post office, Laundromat, hardware store, hair salon, several restaurants, and other specialized, privately owned businesses. Tucked away just beyond the downtown area is Lake Horicon. The lake offers a great spot to view a sunset, take a brisk walk, or simply enjoy the picturesque changes of seasons. There is a small beach, a bandstand, playground, and several small docks.
The Lakehurst Elementary school serves pre-K through grade 8. Students in grades 9-12 attend the nearby Manchester Township High School. Take a short ride a few miles up the road and you are at the center of it all. Shopping malls, grocery stores, highways, big box stores, beaches, boardwalks; the list is just about endless! Enjoy and take advantage of all this lovely small town in Ocean County has to offer.
